Job purpose

The Hardscape Crew Member is responsible for the installation of hardscape features such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, pavers, stonework, and other structural landscape elements. This role involves working with various materials, including brick, stone, concrete, and wood, to create durable and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces. The position requires operating specialized equipment, following project designs, and ensuring high-quality craftsmanship. Teamwork, physical endurance, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency are essential to completing projects on time and to company standards.

    • Assist with the installation of hardscape elements such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, fire pits, and more.

    • Measure and cut materials (stone, pavers, blocks, etc.) to fit specific design requirements.

    • Prepare and level surfaces for hardscaping projects, including excavating and compacting soil and gravel.

    • Use hand and power tools to lay stone, pavers, and other hardscape materials.

    • Ensure proper drainage systems are in place and install irrigation as needed.

    • Work with other team members to ensure efficient project completion while maintaining high standards of quality.

    • Assist with the maintenance and repair of existing hardscape structures as needed.

    • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure safe work environments.

    • Communicate effectively with supervisors and clients to ensure projects meet expectations and deadlines.

    • Maintain and clean equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

    • Previous experience in hardscaping, masonry, or a related field (preferred).

    • Ability to operate hand and power tools, including saws, compactors, and mixers.

    • Knowledge of hardscape materials such as pavers, natural stone, concrete, and block.

    • Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions and the ability to lift heavy materials.

    • Attention to detail and a passion for high-quality craftsmanship.

    • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

    • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions.

    • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve issues during projects.

    • Valid driver’s license (preferred).

    • This job operates outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and humidity. Work is physically demanding and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying heavy materials (up to 75 lbs) for extended periods.

    • The position involves handling and installing materials such as pavers, stone, concrete, wood, and other hardscape elements. Crew members must use tools and equipment such as saws, compactors, levels, trowels, and skid steers while working on uneven terrain, slopes, and in dusty or muddy environments.

    • This job requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.

    • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs regularly and occasionally heavier loads.

    • Frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools, materials, and equipment such as saws, compactors, levels, and trowels.

    • Ability to perform repetitive motions, including grasping, gripping, and fine motor movements.

    • Must have the physical stamina to work in various outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and inclement weather.

    • Requires good balance, coordination, and the ability to work on uneven or sloped terrain.

    • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods, including gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.
